compost as the oracle

compost as the muse: FAREWELL POLLY COMPOST

Here i am, gathering leaf mulch for my urban compost pile- november 2017

A person in an orange sweater and purple beanie gathers leaf mulch in a yard, with a house and trees in the background.

My website has been called polly compost for years- i was an anarchist urban composter.

I raged against the machine with my compost piles- my urban clothesline- my kitchen ferments.

I learned about permaculture and started a farm. And failed. And worked in kitchens as a cook, and then later a server. I was in and out of community college classes.

I was divorced, and a mother of 2, finding my way.

I believed in decomposition in a big way- and i have decomposed many times before, during, and after this time of my life.

Compost as the oracle, polly compost decomposing and emerging as mycelial paths

During this era i found my very first psilocybe species- and it was like a portal to a new dimension was revealed to me — these little mushrooms were everywhere in the suburban strip mall wood chips- and i could see them for the first time.

I identified deeply with the wild plants i learned to forage in the urban /and suburban places i lived. I found my very first amanita muscaria, in a strip of grass between a busy road and a side walk, near an ornamental spruce.

Very soon after this my life underwent a permanent and dramatic transformation.

here is a little peek into my life back then, from my former sick-a** blog called suburban transcendentalism- where i accidentally captured my journey from young mormon mother of two to anarchist composter polly compost HAHA (or when i left my marriage and moved into a bedroom in a house with another single mother with my two kids)

anyway- thank you for being here and witnessing this goodbye.

goodbye polly compost, and thank you for your radical and weird courage. you’ve always known that decomposition was the power path.

i welcome you to the mycelial path era. may it be wild, fruitful, transformative, and abundant for us all.

xoxo dolly

Hello! I’ve been following you for many years and I’m sad to see you leaving this blog. Your journey has definitely help to spark my journey as a gardener and transition guide to this new world we continuously coming into. Mercury went direct yesterday and you made this announcement. It was meant to be. Thank you for sharing your journey.
