in the spring, i like to pick flowers.
here in the sierra nevada foothills, it feels like early spring- bird song and thunder song with heavy rain and sun. fresh wild greens like chickweed and miner’s lettuce become pesto.
i follow my toddler around the greening paths— pruning fruit trees and planting bare roots— clipped raspberries and olalaberries from my mom’s garden- we read books on repeat. the hyacinths are pushing out of the earth. the ducks are laying turquoise eggs.
